EASY HOMEMADE COTTAGE PIE

YOU WILL NEED

– russet potatoes – Salt and pepper – butter – milk or cream – large egg yolk – ground beef or lamb – onion – carrot – garlic clove  – dried thyme – all-purpose flour – ketchup or tomato paste – chicken broth – Worcestershire sauce – frozen peas

STEP 1

Simmer diced potatoes until tender, drain and mash with butter, cream or milk, and egg yolk.

STEP 2

Brown ground beef and transfer cooked beef to a plate. Drain all but a couple teaspoons of the fat from the pan. 

STEP 3

In the same pan, cook onions and carrots until they begin to soften and then add garlic and thyme and cook for 30 seconds. Add flour and tomato paste followed by chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce and simmer until thickened. 

STEP 4

Stir in ground beef and peas and top mixture with mashed potatoes. 

STEP 5

Bake until golden brown and beautiful. 

STEP 6

Slice, serve, and enjoy!!
